Jakkals Vibes™ ("we", "us") operates the website www.jakkalsvibes.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We primarily follow South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). If you access the site from the EEA, the GDPR may also apply.

Information we collect

What we collect depends on how you use the site:

Booking enquiry form

Name, email address, phone number, event type, event date, town/venue, expected crowd size, and your message.
Your IP address (for spam prevention and rate-limiting).
Your enquiry is emailed to our booking partner, Vocal Events, who handle Jakkals Vibes™ bookings; a short summary line is written to a server log; and a confirmation email is sent to the address you provide.

Contacting us by email

When you email us (for enquiries, media, partnerships or licensing), we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include, and we keep our correspondence so we can reply.

Newsletter sign-up

Email address, the date you signed up, your IP address, your browser user-agent, and a unique unsubscribe token.
Stored in our database so we can send the newsletter and let you unsubscribe at any time.

Automatic website logs

IP address, date/time, pages viewed, referrer, browser/OS and ISP, for security and diagnostics.

Cookies, reCAPTCHA & embedded platforms

Essential cookies for basic site functions, plus Google Analytics cookies that load only if you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner.
Google reCAPTCHA v3 runs on our forms to help prevent spam and abuse.
When you interact with YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Instagram, TikTok, etc., those services process your data under their own policies.

How we use your information

Provide, operate, and secure our site and services.
Communicate with you (e.g., respond to enquiries; send newsletters if you opted in).
Prevent fraud/abuse and improve performance (including via reCAPTCHA).

Legal bases

POPIA: consent (e.g., newsletter), contract (on request), legitimate interests (security, diagnostics, anti-abuse), or legal obligation.

GDPR (if applicable): Art. 6(1)(a) consent, 6(1)(b) contract, 6(1)(f) legitimate interests, or 6(1)(c) legal obligation.

Sharing

We don't sell personal information. We share data only as needed: booking enquiries are sent to our booking partner Vocal Events, who act as an independent recipient handling your booking; and limited data goes to service providers (hosting, email delivery, Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA) under contracts requiring them to protect it and use it only to provide their service, or where required by law.

Retention

Booking enquiries and records: up to 5 years.
Email correspondence: up to 5 years.
Newsletter records: until you unsubscribe, after which we remove or de-identify them.
Server logs: kept for a limited period for security and diagnostics.

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it.

Your rights

POPIA: request access, correction, deletion, or objection to certain processing. Where we process based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (this won't affect prior lawful processing).

GDPR (if applicable): rights to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Security

We use technical and organisational measures, including HTTPS/TLS encryption, to protect personal information. No system is 100% secure; please take care when sharing information online.

Cookies & analytics

We use essential cookies for basic site functionality. For usage insights we use Google Analytics (GA4). Google Analytics does not load until you choose “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you choose “Reject”, no analytics scripts or cookies are loaded and your choice is remembered on your device. You can change your choice using Cookie settings in the footer. Rejecting analytics stops further analytics events on this page and removes the Google Analytics cookies accessible to this website. It does not delete information already sent while you had accepted. When enabled, Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation. Your use of Google Analytics is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Google reCAPTCHA

We use Google reCAPTCHA v3 on forms to help prevent spam and abuse. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Children

Our services and forms are not intended for persons under 18 without the involvement or consent of a competent person (for example, a parent or guardian). If we learn that we have collected a child's personal information without proper authority, we will delete it or otherwise lawfully address it.

International transfers

Your information may be processed outside South Africa by our service providers. Where applicable, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., contractual protections).

Information Officer and PAIA requests

The Information Officer of JAKKALS VIBES (PTY) LTD is The Director, JAKKALS VIBES (PTY) LTD. The Information Officer is responsible for handling requests under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA). Registration of the Information Officer with the Information Regulator is in progress.
